The statue of Lord Krishna is being brought to Guruvayur from Braj Dhaam. Sri Krishna is the presiding deity of Braj Dhaam, the birth place of Krishna. The statue is to reach Kerala by 29 March, where a nine-day Akhila Bharatiya Srimad Bhagavada Mahasatram festival has been organized.
The statue, being brought from Braj by a dozen priests of the Guruvayur temple amidst chanting of mantras and choral bhajan is headed by Dineshan Namboothiripad. The procession will pass Vrindavan, Govardhan Giri, major temples of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, before reaching Kerala.
The idol will be worshipped at the Akhila Bharat Srimad Bhagavath Mahasatram. The day will also witness the converging of processions from 500 Sri Krishna temples of Kerala, including Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, in Guruvayur. As many as 70 scholars are to conduct discourses on various subjects pertaining to Srimad Bhagavadam during the 9 day Bhagavad Satram.
